NANJING EAST RD. MIXED USE BUILDING
NANJING EAST ROAD
MIXED USE BUILDING
Located along one of Taipei’s most prominent urban arteries, the Nanjing East Road Mixed Use Building offers an architectural response to the demands of density, prestige, and livability in the city’s core. This mixed-use development integrates premium office spaces with high-rise residential units, balancing two distinct programs within a unified architectural identity. The office floors are designed to attract high-level and international companies seeking strategic headquarters in Taipei. To meet this ambition, the building adopts a singular and distinguished character-one that reflects the professionalism and institutional clarity these firms require. A key challenge of the program was the requirement to place residential units on the upper floors. This posed a potential conflict with the expectations of corporate tenants, who often prefer buildings with a clean, homogeneous image dedicated solely to office use.
The design addresses this by establishing separate entrances for residential and office users, ensuring privacy and functional clarity from the ground level. Above, the residential and office volumes are articulated as distinct masses, yet they share a cohesive facade language.
This strategy preserves the building’s visual unity while reinforcing the prestige of the office component. Rather than diluting the corporate image, the presence of residential units is carefully integrated to enhance the building’s urban presence and architectural strength.
The result is a mixed-use landmark that speaks to Taipei’s evolving urban fabric-where flexibility, identity, and excellence converge.
