DOWNTOWN ROOSEVELT ROAD
DOWNTOWN
ROOSEVELT ROAD
Roosevelt Road, the first street in Taipei named after a foreigner, is home to such important landmarks as Mandarin Daily News building, A well-known national newspaper; Taipower Building, the first building in Taiwan to reach over 100 meters high; and even Taiwan’s most famous and highest-ranking university, National Taiwan University. For a street that possesses such importance and history, this project appropriately proposes a timeless approach, where the complexity of setbacks and architectural regulations dissolve to give way to an orderly and consistent language.
From the inside, the visual experience is amplified by equipping the building with large windows that let in natural light and where from a certain height it is possible to observe the Yangmingshan mountains as well as the spectacle of the daily sunrise and sunset.
